“Sometimes the Balkans seem to me a terrible place, full of absurdities and severe apathy that disintegrates everything around. Other times I see their beauty and joy, a strange smile peering stupidly everywhere and makes you smile, go figure out yourself how and why.” Raiko Baichev’

A Gadulka player tells a story about his life and his relation with his musical instrument – Gadulka. Step by step he reveals for us his observations and analysis. He draws our attention onto the Gadulka and its purpose as a musical instrument. Gadulka is very important for the orchestra. It is the foundation, the backbone of the orchestra. However as usual people do not pay much attention to the foundation, they appreciate and like the façade.

The same happens to our hero – he supports and maintains good relationship with his relatives and colleagues but they do not notice it. People are not interested in foundations/basis; they are after the attraction, after the shiny elements on the cover. They stay on the surface do not see deeper than the appearance. The sad story of the foundation/basis, which no one seems to notice and count as an important by the moment when it disappears and we all have the feeling as if we are disappearing…
