It is the leading plot of the movie “Sofia – the capital of Byzantium without borders”.
The International Congress of Byzantine Studies (XXII in order) is the point of reference for the director’s investigation: why so many centuries after the disappearance of Byzantium, it continues to be a subject of interest.

The film investigation presents alternative views about the merits of using the name of Byzantium, is it correct to use the word Byzantines in a negative sense, and which is the real Third Rome!
The film shows that the world of Byzantium and its neighbors have not yet been fully studied.
Discussions are held in Sofia and this provokes the assumption: “Serdica would become the capital of Byzantium, Constantinople instead.”.
The dispute between the world’s leading authorities on Byzantine history is displayed with a computer modeled reconstructions of Serdica, combined with footage from recent archaeological and other cultural sites.

It has been used unique shooting footage of exceptional historical and religious relics.
The scenario is characterized by originality, the directing and techniques are innovative by themselves.

The film has two versions: Bulgarian (29 minutes) and English (36 minutes). Both of them cover the best international technical formats and are suitable for high quality broadcasting, presentation to a live audience, in cinemas and other media environment .
