Exhibition opening by Krasimira Nikolova

The Bulgarian Cultural Institute London is pleased to invite you to the opening of an exhibition by Krasimira Nikolova, on June 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., at ‘Sofia’ Gallery.

Krasimira Nikolova has been making paintings using the shuttle lace technique since 2012. Shuttle lace is known in Bulgaria as Kaloferska and was used by our ancestors to decorate clothes.

“I was introduced to the magic of this art by my teacher Bistra Pisancheva, who is an innovator in this field and I, as her student, experiment in this direction. Applying a new approach, I use the old technique to create my unique paintings, however immodest it may sound”, shares Krasimira Nikolova.

Some of her works have been shown at:

– The National Assembly for Folk Art Koprivshtitsa – 2015/2022.

– International exhibition “Who creates and who uses the laces” organized by Ethnographic Museum Sofia – 2019.

– Several years in a row, at the invitation of the “Creative Center of Kalofer lace”, she has taken part in the lace festival in the town of Kalofer.
