Satire in Post-1989 European Literature

The discussion will focus on the life and works of the late Bulgarian author Alek Popov and the profound cultural transformations in Eastern Europe after 1989. The conversation will also bring into dialogue other prominent satirical voices such as Jáchym Topol and Jaroslav Kalfař, situating Bulgarian literature within the wider European context.

This event forms part of the official programme of the Bulgarian Stand at London Book Fair 2026, highlighting contemporary Bulgarian literature on the international stage.
